Reluctant sale, but a real deal RGS if you’ve always fancied one. And, yes, the numbers are correct on the motor and the frame.Motor: DA10 R 8416Frame: GA10 716History:Owned by a fellow in Plattsburg, New York who inherited it from his uncle 20 years ago. His uncle had bought it new in ’63. It is a twin carb model, which I understand from the BSA Owner’s Association was a US export feature. He brought it to our shop for repairs and restoration in 2010. All receipts and work orders are available. The scope was for a patina restoration as he wanted to keep the frame paint/pinstriping original. Top end was a total rebuild and other primary/gearbox wear items replaced. The mag was rebuilt by Doug Wood in PA. Lots of new cycle parts. The owner owned an autobody shop and did the paint himself. Due to a variety of reasons he offered to sell it back to us for what he had into it, mostly to make sure it would go to a good home.I’ve owned it two years and fussed, fettled and upgraded here and there. ...

Motorcycle comes with electronic ignition. The BSA Lightning was designed as the all-round sports machine of the 1960s, planned largely for export to the US market to complement the touring Thunderbolt and the later development, the supersports Spitfire. Development of the engine aimed to make it more reliable, quieter and less prone to oil leaks, with top speed sacrificed to improve mid-range and rideability. Nevertheless, with twin carburettors the A65L could still reach 108 mph (174 km/h). Improvements included an oil pressure warning light, but this had a tendency to malfunction, so riders learned to ignore it. A close ratio gearbox combined with a high lift camshaft ...

BSA B50 single cylinder 500cc Unit construction. I believe this is a B50T. Needs restoration. Handle bar controls are not mounted. Has non-standard twin leading shoe front drum brake due to original drum brake being very undersized. Electrical box needs rubber mounts replaced. Engine turns freely. It has had a recent change (last year) of engine, transmission and primary lubricants. I had planned to get it running.I have not tried to start it yet but I do expect it would run with a little more work. No speedometer or tach. Key is missing but ignition switch is there and can be re-keyed. Front Rim has a small dent which may be noticable when riding. Gas tank has a dent on left side front. Muffler is loose on headpipe. New old stock front fender goes with the bike, was purchased for this project and still has the original BSA wrapping paper on one end. The NOS fender would be great for color matching the paint for the rear fender, This would be a good very worthwhile project for someone ...

Nice Original 1967 BSA Lightning A65L Completely original except for electronic ignition and new petcocks. Carbs have also been rebuilt. Usually starts on 1st or second kick. The original owner rode it for awhile and dropped it (see pics for dent in tank). After that, it was parked in a temperature controlled area until he finally sold it. As far as I know, it has always been kept in a controlled environment. It does have a little rust on a portion of the wheels and chain guard, but nothing major For originality, the heat sink and Zener diode were left in place after the electronic ignition was installed. The paint on one side of the tank shows some crackling, but I haven't had it repainted in order to keep it original. If you have any questions or require additional photos, please let me know.
